momma wants her blue jeans back

Talked to my doctor a couple days ago and the plan, if I don’t go into labor before, is to induce Sunday night/Monday morning at (midnight) 12:01 to be exact, that way I don’t get charged for Sunday at all. Doctor asked if that was too late to come in… well normally yes, this woman goes to bed at 9 pm sharp, but since you’re helping me out, I think we’ll be good :-) I’ve really been in a frenzy trying to get lots of little things done so I don’t have to worry about them when I get home. Even though I know I will :P I have a doctor’s appt. today, he’ll check my cervix and see how favorable it is. I will obviously feel overwhelmed after baby, but I’m just ready to be done. My Mom has to have hip replacement and I want to be back to my old self (as much as possible) before that so I’m there for her. We have family coming and I’m being selfish and I want to spend time with them, not sit around being pregnant for over half the time they are here. We were able to make a plan for my husband’s daughter as she’ll be spending some time with us after we come home. Overall I just feel better knowing we have a plan… I’m not much into surprises for things like this.

baby’s room!

It’s been a lot of hard work getting this all ready. Thanks to Husband and Dad for all their hard work! We have just a few little things left to do in the room. We need the register cover, the trim affected by the register cover (the last piece of base), the window trim (because I forgot to measure and bought the wrong size – oops my bad), curtains of some sort (not a clue what I want), the outlet covers are ordered and then will need to be stained to match the oak trim, one new outlet because I accidentally painted over half of it and then my husband wanted to see what it looked like all painted green, a bit of touch up paint from the carpet installation and a baby :P

We painted the room and I was stumped for a theme. I was thinking baby. My husband was thinking manly. :-) We stumbled upon the baskets at the store the other night that gave us the theme. It’s bears and moose and trees – outdoorsy kinda thing. My husband had the lamps that just so happened to match perfectly.

busy weekend

Can we rewind this past weekend and use slow motion through the sleeping parts? Maybe I could pretend I got more sleep that way. There was lots to do and don’t ask me how, but it’s done. Except that sleeping thing… I didn’t finish that part. I picked up the paint and supplies during the day, as we needed to finish painting before today so the carpet could be dropped off and installed tomorrow. You’ll have to wait until after carpet and trim to see the colors and finished room. :P Friday night Dad worked on the siding. I helped with the little stuff, hauling garbage and handing tools to him and stuff like that. Then the texture guy was supposed to be here at 7. At 7:30 I finally called him because without him the rest of the stuff was going to be extremely out of whack. When he didn’t answer my heart sunk and I started to panic. 15 minutes later he showed up – PHEW! I told him I tried calling but he has disconnected his caller id and answering machine due to his ex-wife. His phone gets answered when his Mom is there and she screens the calls. Fun times – I used to work with the ex-wife and had my own little run-in with her so I get why he’s doing that. Although I’d leave the caller id on so I KNEW when she was calling. Ah well. He was done texturing in about 15 minutes and it looks great! We let that dry, which didn’t take long at all and then got the primer on. Standing in the shower at about 10:30 that night I seriously didn’t think my ankles and legs were going to hold up much longer.

On to Saturday…. I awoke at my normal WAY too early time so I busied myself around the house waiting for the stores to open so I could wake my husband up and we could go get the trim. We needed to get trim so we knew where to split the colors. We picked up most of the trim, we need to go back this week after the truck comes in because they were out of the door/window trim and they only had 1 piece of chair rail. We made a few other stops before getting back home to paint. After we got the first coat done, I took myself a nice hour long nap and my husband went fishing. I think my memories failing me…. I think my Dad came back over that night to work on the gutters on the house. I think parts of the weekend are a blur…. I may or may not have been walking around half asleep. We got the 2nd coat of paint on that night.

Sunday… Another early morning for me. I was oh so sweet and let my husband sleep in – and boy did he ever :P Dad came back over and finished putting the downspouts on the gutter. They are SO much nicer than the old ones! Not to mention they are put on so they’ll work this time. I’m not sure why they even put the last ones on, other than to catch leaves and branches. We realized the bottom color of the wall needed 1 more coat of paint as it looked darker in the corners and around outlets where I’d used the paint brush and got it thicker. My husband was oh so cool to let me paint the bottom half of the wall and he painted the top. That way I just drug my stool around and sat my butt on it while painting :-) We didn’t get right to painting, instead we headed out of town for a few baby items and a few necessities as I imagine after baby I won’t be wanting to leave all that much for a bit. I drove the Envoy and my husband rode up on his motorcycle. After shopping for hours I was really trying to think of a plan for getting that motorcycle in the vehicle so he could drive and I could sleep. No such luck… is it bad when you drove all the way home and don’t remember parts of the trip?? Yeah, I figured so. :-( We obviously made it home, since I’m typing this and all. I made supper while my husband put the last coat of paint on. It looks SO much better this morning! Yeah!! Thanks!! If this kid doesn’t like this room he’s going to have paint it himself. I refuse to even think of trying to paint over this color.

Because I’m in a frenzy trying to get everything done I batted my eyelashes and gave the puppy dog eyes to my husband so he’d bring the stroller/car seat up so I could check it out. I just wanted to see it, I wasn’t even asking him to put it together. But he started pulling it out for me and next thing I knew he was putting it together :-) I think he’s about as excited as me right now. This thing is awesome!! I’m so glad Gramma found the article and we got this one. My big rant… I took out the instruction manual for the car seat for car installation – IT WAS ALLLLLLL IN SPANISH!! The book wasn’t half and half – it was just all Spanish. That’s crap… BIG time.

And after eating and putting the stroller together we sat and watched American Outlaws. I surprisingly made it through about half the movie I think before falling asleep. That’s a huge accomplishment for me – I don’t usually make it past the previews. I’ll have to finish it tonight because I was really into it. It’s an excellent movie!!

37 weeks 3 days

Doctor update :-)

It’s totally normal to lose it in the doctor’s office right??! RIGHT??? Well, normal or not, I done lost it in there. I think I’m just overwhelmed right now, there’s lots going on and lots that needs to be done. And like I said before, I just don’t have time to be pregnant anymore. Not to mention it’s the last weeks here and I think all us woman feel that way at the end. Poor doctor – I know the guys just love it when women lose it :P He tried telling me how it’s not good to induce early and that wasn’t working for him, because I was induced early with my son and he’s all good to go, so of course I argued that. Stubborn ass pregnant lady. What can I say I’m done.

I gained this time :-( DAMN! Ah well… can’t gain for too much longer I guess. He checked my cervix and I’m dilated 2cm. Now to figure out how to make that number go a lot higher a lot quicker….. Pluckymama is going to tell me to go to the chiropractor – I just know it. lol

The progress on the baby’s room is amazing. All it took was finding that window and everything is just falling into place. Thanks Dad and Hubby for all their work – it’s awesome! Final sanding of mud tonight, texture guy will be here tomorrow. He’s so great for doing this – I know he’s super busy being a single Dad, but he’s sneaking over to help us out real quick. Then it’s time to paint. So after my husband and I are done having a brawl about whether we do brown (my choice) or green (his choice) then we’ll be buying paint and painting this weekend. :P Then it’s on to the carpet – finding an installer for that is going to be a challenge. *calling* Okay, can’t get the place we’re buying the carpet from to install for maybe a month. They’ve got me down so if an opening comes available they’ll come sneak me in. But I’ll check with a couple others and see if they can’t get it done sooner. Otherwise… a month it shall be – my fault for not scheduling sooner. Although I didn’t realize everything would just start falling into place so soon. Baby won’t be in his room asap anyway so we’re good.

UPDATE!! The carpet place JUST called me back and they can install my carpet this coming Tuesday! Holy Hannah!! And the cost of labor is surprisingly cheap! Sorry, lots of exclamation points in this little update – but I’m very excited if you can’t tell :-) Baby’s room just might make it! Now we’ve GOT to decide those paint colors!

dentist visit

I had stopped at my Mom’s yesterday and she said I needed to look at my son’s gums (that’s.. GOOOOOOMS for those of you who can’t pronounce it the right way :P LOL). It looked like on his front teeth he was missing some of his gum. My first thought went back to this entire school year. He has this AWFUL habit of picking at his gums. No idea why he does it. Stress. Boredom. Who knows. So I called the dentist and luckily got an appt in half an hour – phew no time for him to worry about going :-) I kept telling him they were going to tell him he had to quit picking. He kept his hands clamped over his mouth for the next half hour mumbling he didn’t want them to pull his teeth, he didn’t want them to touch his teeth or gums, etc. I told him they would NOT be pulling his teeth, they’d just be looking at them to see what’s up with his gums. Then I JOKINGLY (this went really bad) told him if he didn’t quit picking at his gums they’d just have to take his fingernails off so he couldn’t pick with them anymore. (read: things NOT to say to kids when they are already freakin out about the dentist) By the time we got to the dentist office I THINK (I’m not sure) I had him convinced that I was joking and they weren’t pulling any teeth and they weren’t pulling any fingernails. He wouldn’t talk to anybody when we got there, just kept his hands clamped over his mouth. He climbed in the chair (surprisingly) and let them put the little spit cloth thingy on him. Then he also used that to help cover his mouth. :-) Dentist came in and looked at his gums and he really wasn’t sure what was up with them. He wasn’t positive it was from him picking, he actually thinking he had some infection. We discussed him picking at his gums all school year. I knew every day he’d been picking because he’d come home with little blood spots down the sleeves of his shirts. Dentist asked him to show him how he picks at his gums and then, this is where it got BAD, told him if he didn’t quit picking he was going to take his fingernails off!!! NOOOOOOOO!!! I JUST convinced him I was joking!!! My son burst into tears instantly!! SHIT! It took a bit to calm him down and convince him once again that it was a joke. Poor kid’s never going to go back. And he has to because he found 2 cavities while we were there. So our next appt. could be an interesting one. I know I’m NOT making any jokes before taking him there – I’ll be the one with my hands clamped over my mouth :P haha
