time flies when you’re having fun…

… or taking care of a baby :-) I can’t believe my little guy is 4 weeks old today! I took his 1 month pictures today. Filled his little belly, gave him a bath, took his pictures and all that must have wore the little guy out because he fell asleep right where we were taking pictures. I weighed him today also – 10 pounds!! No wonder he’s growing out of all his clothes – geesh. I tried measuring him, but I’m trying again later. His last check-up at 2 weeks he was 21 3/4″, today I measure him at 21 1/2″ so he’s either shrinking or one of us measured a bit wrong. I wish they did check-ups at 2 weeks and then again at 1 month instead of waiting until 2 months. Ah well. My Mom had a baby scale from when I was a baby so she brought that over so I could weigh him. Now I can weigh him whenever I want to :-) Anyhoo… here’s baby’s 1 month picture! I love this little guy so much!!

frustrated

I’m going crazy here. Not a clue what I’m doing wrong. Nursing is a nightmare in the evenings. Come feeding time, little man latches on wonderfully but only stays latched for a minute and then throws his head back screaming. He’ll go on for a few seconds and then back to the latch, then it repeats. It’s only in the evenings. Mornings are excellent (fingers crossed). Nights are excellent too (fingers crossed again). I’m wondering if evenings are just a major fussy time and he doesn’t really know what he wants. But it’s so frustrating, my entire evening is spent unhooking and hooking my bra every 15 minutes in an attempt to get him to eat or calm down or sleep, whichever it is he wants. Any advice moms?

a baby must have

I swear this bouncy seat I just bought for baby is magic. Today I was able to take a bath while baby sat in his seat in the bathroom with me and he fell asleep in it. He’s now been sleeping for 3 hours! Maybe this should be his new bed…. hmmmm :-) I should have been sleeping, instead I’ve gotten a gazillion things done! Here’s baby in his magic seat – it vibrates and plays music and when he’s older he can bounce in it. Sorry I didn’t show the entire seat in the picture – but it’s just one of those bouncy seats on a wire frame.

oh what a night

The night is over! Phew!! I wasn’t sure if we were going to make it there for a while. But I had a nice clean kitchen this morning. And both boys must be done wore out because they are both sleeping. The party began around 2:30 am and ended somewhere around 5:30 am. I nursed and rocked and cuddled and still had a baby with wide eyes and ready to go. I had my oldest up wandering around, going to the bathroom 15 times in 15 minutes. I don’t know how they do it… I walked around like a zombie. We ended up trying the swing, which kept baby content for quite some time. Being me, I decided to not waste any available time, even though it was 3 am so I cleaned the kitchen. My oldest helped me clean everything up and put dishes away, then we sat and drank lemonade :-) Then I nursed some more, cuddled some more, walked in circles again and finally went to bed.

2 week check-up

How can it be!? My baby is 2 weeks old already!! We had our 2 week check-up today and everything was great. I had pumped and taken milk with us in a bottle for that just in case time. I learned one thing… he does not like a bottle – geesh. I attempted to feed him the rest out of the bottle when we returned home because I didn’t want to have it cold, then warm, then cold again, etc. That was a NO GO! He wanted a boob and he wanted it NOW (er… or then – whatever) :P

I’m thinking I’m producing cream and not milk. My little man’s grown an inch and gained over a pound!! He’s 21.75″ long and 9 lbs!! He’s my little chunko I guess :-) He’s in the 85%tile for height and 57%tile for weight.

Doctor was checking him all out and he did SO good – NO tears! Thank goodness, because when baby cries at doctor, Mommy cries – it’s a given. And next time when those shots roll around, I’ll be sure to take lots of kleenex :-( He made sure to do his thing… he peed all over the doctor! haha I laughed because it’s happened to me NUMEROUS times already. And when he decides to pee on ya – he makes it a GOOD one! And it usually ends with a smile, as it did today. Good thing doctor was good about it, he got a good laugh and smile out of it. Doctor made a good impression, I was really happy with him. We don’t have many to pick from here, but I think I made the right choice. He had good bed-side manners and talked people talk, not doctor talk.

After all that baby was awake so we headed down to my doctor’s office as we didn’t see him before we left. Had to show him what he delivered and get a picture of them together. And wouldn’t you know it… they matched! Doctor and baby were both wearing green – it was too cute. It was fun to see doctor and the nurse and the receptionist again. Like we talked – we went from seeing each other all the time to not at all.

I was trying to leave you all with a picture, but I cannot get into the site to upload it – so I’ll do that later. Hugs to all!!
