surprise

I got a surprise last night! Yeah, that’s right, ME! After attending my son’s parent-teacher conference, hubby surprised me with dinner! Alone. An hour of peace and quiet, no telling kids to sit down or quit throwing food. None of that. It went like this…

I spent the day in my grubby clothes as I was home with all 4 little ones, who drove me up the wall and boy do I have a story from all that, my son was very naughty. Anyway… I snuck a few minutes to throw myself together so I was ready to go for the conference. And boy was it a good thing I did. I wonder if I would have been surprised with dinner if I’d gone in my grubby clothes?! haha I had already asked Gramma earlier if she’d watch the boys while I went to the conference, but sometime after that hubby talked to her and asked if she wanted to keep the boys after the conference so we could go to supper. After leaving the conference I said I was going to call Gramma and ask if she’d watch the boys just a bit longer so we could stop at the grocery store for milk. He said Nope, don’t worry about it, she won’t mind. I said I still had to call and just let her know that’s what we were doing. I’m just like that. So I got the surprise early and he said don’t worry about it, we’re going on a date tonight, she’s already keeping them. I teared up and called anyway, because I’d already dialed and it was ringing. It was a fun time, hubby had prime rib and I had some seafood ravioli dish with shrimp. Yummy. Minus the lemony sauce they put on top.

As for the story earlier… we are having a problem with biting here. I never wanted to be the parent with a kid who bites. Baby left a nasty purple mark on one of the twins’ cheeks. Thank goodness the Mom was understanding and said karma came back to get her. She’d taken to her brother’s back one night a couple months ago and bit a smiley face onto his back. She was just working on the last eye when her Dad got out of the shower and caught her. I said Woah… Karma came back to bite her… literally. haha Hopefully this doesn’t become an out of hand problem. If anybody’s had this problem and has advice to offer, I’m open to anything. Well, besides biting them back. I think that’s plain ridiculous and mean and just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Big brother’s conference went well. He’s rushing a little bit, which isn’t shocking. He gets bored and rushes easily. He had to be moved across the room from a little girl because they can’t get along I guess. He hasn’t mentioned anything about that, which is odd for him. Other than that, the teacher loves him and says he’s a great help with the computers, she knows nothing about them, and he’s always paying close attention to detail around the room. Like, letting her know she doesn’t have the schedule up yet and things like that. Reminded me of when he was in Kindergarten (I think it was Kindergarten anyway). Gramma dropped him off at school one morning and he noticed on his way to the building that the flag wasn’t up yet, so he stopped in the office to let them know that wasn’t done!!! TOO freakin’ funny!!!

just more of the same

I won’t keep updating night by night. They are the same. Baby wakes once a night for a diaper and a bottle. He goes back to sleep fairly easily, but usually ends up with us for the rest of the night. I think mostly because we are just tired and fall asleep with him. I stay awake until he finishes the bottle because I’m scared he’ll choke on it laying down, but then he cuddles in and while I wait for him to fall fast asleep I fall asleep too. Oh well. Half a night of good sleep is better than what we got before.

We carved pumpkins this weekend. After a couple hours we had 5 cute little jack-o-lanterns. I wanted a pic of baby sticking his hand in for the first time, but I was running around doing this and that and they let him to the pumpkins before I got there. Boo on that :-( He wasn’t about to stick his hand in there a second time. No way.

We also baked some cookies today. I learned the recipe for chocolate chip cookies on the back of the package SUCKS really bad. Those were horrible. I’ll never do that again.

Since I’m done with pumpkins, I’m ready to do Christmas now. I love having the house decorated for Christmas. Such a lovely time. Although I’m guessing baby is going to be climbing the tree. We’ll probably have ornaments on the top half of the tree only and the bottom will be a bit shaggy. Should be an interesting year.

night four

Another night of waking, but he didn’t wake until somewhere around 4 am. Works for me. Daddy got us a diaper and a bottle and we all cuddled back into bed. At least he spent most of the night sleeping in the playpen. So he’s completely capable of sleeping good by himself, he just doesn’t know how to calm himself down and put himself back to sleep. Doesn’t like to be alone and needs the bottle to go back to sleep. Not sure how to fix that. But at least we all get some hours of good sleep. Baby sleeps good because nobody is in his space. We sleep good because we’re not getting kicked and hit and pushed away.

It’s a day with no daycare kids here today. I’m enjoying time with just me and baby and we can get some stuff done and some errands ran. We already ran a few, but we’ll save some for later as we both get a little cabin fever and it’s good to get out. Had a hard time leaving the grocery store this morning. We have those car carts and baby didn’t want to get out. So we stood in the entryway playing for quite some time until I convinced him we should go and we’ll come back later for Mommy’s paycheck from work. Thank goodness he left willingly and I didn’t have to carry him out kicking and screaming like last time.

I have to share the boys’ pictures with you. Big brother school pic and a pic of baby I took while we were out trying to get family pics done. They are great, except that dang piece of grass that goes right across baby’s picture. Oh well. At least we got a good pic of him and got him to sit for 2 seconds. What more can you ask for from a 15 month old, right.

They are both so stickin cute and great! We are not having good luck with family pictures. Our first round was us having the camera set on the car and using the timer, which is what we did last year and it worked great. This year, the camera kept focusing on the grass in front of us and not on us, so we have many blurry pictures. Our second round we had Grandpa (Daddy’s Dad) try. Taking pictures isn’t his forte. So we are trying again this weekend. We are taking Gramma (My Mom) with us this time. We’ll see what we can get this time. Hope we get something we like and that’s not blurry because we’re going to run out of time to get this done. Not to mention, we’re going to have no leaves this time.

So that’s that, I’m off to get some work done and hopefully baby will agree to that and play nicely. Before I go… one more story. Baby bit yesterday! I really really really hope that doesn’t become a habit. He was upset because one of the twins was in his singing chair and he wanted it. He was laughing and playing with her, but then decided he wanted it. He tried pulling her up, but then would giggle about it when she’d sit back down. I kept telling him he needed to share and wait his turn and he’d laugh. I didn’t think there was a major problem because he didn’t appear to be mad, he was just impatiently waiting for his turn. Apparently he was more upset than he led me on to believe because next thing I knew he grabbed her hand to pull her up again, but this time bit her finger. That got her moving and him moving too…. straight to his bedroom, until I calmed her down and made sure she was okay.

night three

Another night of waking. BUT…. after a diaper and cuddling back in with a bottle, I fell asleep and didn’t get him back to the playpen. DANG IT. I was so hoping he was going to sleep good. Before going to sleep he drank a bottle and took me back to the kitchen where he picked out a banana. He sat in the chair with me and ate it and then had just a bit more bottle. I really thought he’d go to sleep with a full belly and sleep, but no such luck. See, the other night was just pure luck. Oh well.

night two

HE SLEPT IN THE PLAYPEN ALL NIGHT LONG!! It was probably pure dumb luck that it happened, but it was sure nice. He ate really good yesterday, took a little nap around 5:30 and went to bed around 9:45 or so, if I remember that time right. It was so nice.
